Rosaryville State Park

This 982-acre, day-use park is located a half-hour’s drive south of Crofton, Maryland. The park holds miles of trails for both hiking and equestrian use. It also houses 2 pavilions for reservation, each holding 200 guests. The park is the home of the historic Mount Airy Mansion, one of the oldest mansions connected to the Calvert family, the Lords Proprietor of colonial Maryland. The mansion is available for rent for social engagements. Hunters welcome! (Bow hunting, deer only.)

Seneca Creek State Park

Under an hour’s drive of Crofton and comprised of 6,300 acres, this lush state park extends 14 miles along Seneca Creek, winding its way up to the Potomac River. 90-Acre Clopper Lake allows for picnicking, fishing, kayaking and canoeing, and boat rentals. The park holds miles and miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking, and also has a tire playground for the kids! Hunters are welcome in designated areas and seasons.

Patapsco Valley State Park

Forty minutes north of Severn, Maryland’s first official state park has multiple developed areas totaling more than 14,000 acres.

Different areas include:

McKeldin: Western section featuring trails for horseback riding, mountain biking, and hiking. Also includes a course for Frisbee golf and Patapsco River for fishing.
Daniels: The Daniels dam allows for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and swimming.
Hollofield: Central section of the park featuring a 73-site campground. Also includes hiking trails and a scenic overlook above the river valley.
Pickall: Playgrounds, Picnic shelters.
Hilton: Mini-cabins in a small campground, a nature center, and access to many trails.
Avalon/Glen Artney/Orange Grove Flour Mill: Historic sites including the Old Gun Road Stone Arch Bridge, Orange Grove Flour Mill, Cascade Falls, and Swinging Bridge.
